Located in Kittery, Maine, Take Flight Aerial Adventure Park offers adventure and community connection through low-stakes, high-fun obstacles, ropes course, and more. Now, they are adding new solar array and Electric Vehicle charging station to take their fun in the sun to a whole new level.
The array will deliver more than 33,673 kilowatt-hours of renewable energy annually to Take Flight annually, for a fraction of the cost of grid power. It will also reduce Take Flight's carbon footprint by more than 52,610 pounds of CO2 per year - the equivalent of planting 395 tree seedlings.
After purchasing the bordering 28 acres of land last year, Take Flight is now laser-focused on sustainability for their expanded operations. Their goal is to provide education programming for kids and adults to teach them about the local ecosystems. The EV charger is a Level 2 Clipper Creek charging station.
"Besides the obvious benefits of going solar for us here at Take Flight, this will provide us the opportunity to educate our guests and clients about what solar programs can do for them and their community and the planet," said Take Flight CEO & Owner Charlie Williams. "Our mission will be to educate students in hopes that they will see just how valuable our resources are and how fragile our planet is, and that going solar is one way to make a difference. And for our adult programs it will be an opportunity to not only educate but directly connect what we have with the folks that can make it happen for them so they can in turn make a difference."
