The Saco Food Pantry 's 24.4 kilowatt solar array helps free up more resources for helping the community by cutting their energy costs.
Each year, their 87-panel array on the roof of their building will generate roughly 26,891 kilowatt-hours (kWhs) of electricity, offsetting the equivalent of over 46,400 miles driven in a gas-powered car.
The Saco Food Pantry financed their array through a Power Purchase Agreement that allowed them to go solar at no upfront cost. They are a nonprofit organization committed to helping the community, and they currently provide food for more than 8,000 people per year.
