Ground mounted solar array for Cumberland Animal Clinic, Cumberland, Maine
With 160 solar panels generating clean, renewable electricity year round, The Cumberland Animal Clinic has eliminated its carbon footprint and is saving hundreds of dollars in utility bills every month.
The solar array was designed to meet 100% of the clinic's electricity needs, thereby eliminating their carbon footprint and saving hundreds of dollars in utility bills every month. "Providing Compassionate Care for Your Best Friend" is the animal clinic's motto, and now the same is true for how the clinic is treating Mother Earth by offsetting the equivalent of more than 77,800 miles of driving in a sedan. The clinic's owners began running the practice in 1994, and in 2014 they designed and built a new office with a heavy focus on energy efficiency. Because of this, their ground-mounted solar array can provide all the office's electricity, and power their nearby home. The solar array has a 25-year warranty life and 30+ year expected useful lifespan, ensuring that the clinic will receive a strong economic and environmental return on its investment for decades to come.
The relatively modest 49 kW ground-mounted solar array is able to provide all the electricity needed by the clinic, thanks to a suite of energy efficiency improvements integrated into the building's design. The solar array has a 25-year warranty life and 30+ year expected useful lifespan, ensuring that the clinic will derive a strong economic and environmental return on its investment for decades to come.
