These students assembled whip cables and wired a fused disconnect switch that would be used to safely connect two solar panels to a battery from an electric motorcycle.

Apprentice Electrician Carley Williams was recently invited by a teacher at her alma mater, Green Mountain College, to organize and teach a Photovoltaics Weekend Intensive Class for students. Carley made the most of two full days of class and shop time, running
Carley, on right, and the team pose with their creation, completed by the end of the day on Sunday - they were thrilled when the finished system was able to run a boombox and a fan. "Everyone cheered when it worked!" she remembers.
through a mock site evaluation, and instructing lots of hands-on work creating a small off-grid system.
Carley feels great about the weekend: "It was a good time relearning some skills that I hadn't used in a while, and teaching others who are also passionate about the environment and the potential of solar energy."
