Chief Financial Officer
Sam (he/him) is the Chief Financial Officer at ReVision Energy and serves on the ReVision Leadership Team. He is responsible for the company's financial planning, budgeting and forecasting, strategic investments, spreading financial literacy, and integrating ReVision's commitment to B-Corp stakeholder theory into strategic and financial decisions.
A recent highlight of Sam's investment strategy efforts at ReVision has been overseeing ReVision's Maine land development strategy, which resulted in the construction of over 100 acres of solar projects since 2019, with hundreds of acres of additional projects actively under development.
Sam has been in the solar industry since 2007 and joined ReVision in 2013 to focus on scaling ReVision's Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) program . After successfully bringing the PPA program to scale, Sam broadened the scope of his role, using his project finance and development skills to build and function as general manager for ReVision's commercial project development and EPC contracting business. In 2020, ReVision's commercial business surpassed its residential business as the largest source of ReVision's revenue. In 2022, Sam took over for retiring cofounder Bill Behrens as ReVision's CFO.
Sam has an undergraduate degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Vermont and a post-graduate Certificate in Accounting. He earned his master's degree in Business Administration with focuses in both Finance and Strategy from Villanova University.
Sam grew up in Maine, where his father worked as a wastewater remediation engineer for the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and where he learned valuable lessons about protecting the environment. He spent summers as a child at his family camp on Lake Champlain, in Colchester, Vermont, where he fell in love with all-things outdoors - kayaking, canoeing, biking, hiking and running. Today, Sam lives in Scarborough with his partner, Erin, where they focus on living a holistically healthy lifestyle, including eating a plant-based diet, yoga, meditation and plenty of time outdoors. In 2022 after their planned purchase of an electric vehicle, their home will be net zero.
Sam and Erin have a a 4.0 kW share in the ReVision run Streamside Community Solar Farm, which covers 100% of their home's electricity load. Their house is heated with 3 Air Source Heat Pumps, and a smidge of electric baseboard heat in the bathrooms, which means they enjoy 100% electric heat and hot water.
